Kris Garard was born in Los Angeles, California in 1973. She has a visual arts degree from UC San Diego where she studied art, philosophy, and theatre design. She was classically trained in realism, studying at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center. In 1997 she traveled abroad to study at the Art Institute of Florence, Italy. She has taught art at the Palos Verdes Art Center and currently works as an artist in Los Angeles painting commissioned oil paintings, murals and interior decorative works of art. Her murals are largely natural and architectural in focus, and her decorative art encompasses styles from around the world. Using color and design, she brings the healing energy of art into the living space and delights in working with people in their homes to create healing, balanced, and beautiful spaces.

Kris paints abstract oil paintings and landscapes in her art studio in Redondo Beach. She creates paintings that are inspired by being present to the immediacy of the moment, and the emotional qualities present in those moments. As a student of Kadampa Buddhism and active at the Mahamudra Buddhist Center of the South Bay, Kris finds a wonderful synergy between spirituality and the process of creating art. It is a love and a happiness that she is passionately pursuing with each stoke of the brush, and in every breath she takes. It is truly a discovery of the unknown, moment by moment, where all possibilities exist.

Kris is currently working on her own studio art as well as painting murals both public and private. If you are interested in seeing more of her artwork or commissioning a piece for you in your home, you can contact her here
